The Team

Assistant Trainer – Bill Haigh
Bill Haigh has been with us from the start, after having his own training establishment in Malton.
Bill signed off his own training career at Spring Cottage Stables with a winner at Lingfield when Legal Issue, his last runner, took division one of the Atropos Handicap under Tim Sprake.
After Legal Issue had beaten Jubilee Scholar, the 9-2 favourite by a head, Bill said: “This is the most expensive horse I have ever bought, at 17,000 guineas.
“He has won four for Brian Valentine, one of my most loyal owners.”
Bill rode successfully on the flat and over jumps and took a licence to train in the 1956-57 National Hunt season, until quitting in 1961.
